Submit Your Event Horizon Photos, Win Cool Stuff

The Ace Hotel Event Horizon Photo Contest is well underway, and there have certainly been some great submissions thus far. Visit their Contest Page each week to check out the latest entries, vote for your favorites, and submit your own! Some of the prizes up for grabs include Stumptown coffee, Ace’s exclusive Pearl+ soap, drink tickets to the hotel’s lobby bar, and Ace NYC and Event Horizon t-shirts. Winners will also receive an invitation for 10% off the room rate when booking The Gormley — a special room package created for the exhibit.


Naked Art Lunch

Italian dining hot-spot SD26 features views of Event Horizon with it’s panoramic window overlooking the northern end of Madison Square Park. You can also check out our official Event Horizon merchandise (also available online) — profits of which will go towards funding future public art exhibitions like Event Horizon!

Don’t Go It Alone… Take an MAS Walking Tour!

Want to learn more about Event Horizon? Interested in New York City’s urban landscape? In a partnership with Mad. Sq. Art, The Municipal Art Society will conduct in-depth walking tours of Event Horizon.

Led by architectural historian, Matt Postal, the tour will explore Antony Gormley’s figurative work and its dialogue with the natural and built environment. You’ll also learn about Madison Square Park  and its recent restoration.

Tours are scheduled for April 10, June 5, and August 15 and reservations are required. Head over to their website to purchase tickets.

Ace Hotel Seeks Event Horizon Photogs

As mentioned in our last post, the Ace Hotel has partnered with Event Horizon to bring you lots of goodies, including an Event Horizon photo contest!

They’ve already started receiving submissions, so get out there and start shooting! Beginning this Friday, photo entries will be posted on their blog. Cast your vote and check back each week to view the winners!

Included in “The Gormley” package — a room-rate special at The Ace with lots of added bonuses — is a disposable camera that even the most amateur of photogs can use. They’re even offering free over-night developing as an incentive to participate in the contest.
